I hold an MSc in Integrative Psychotherapy from Metanoia Institute and Middlesex University.
My background is in television producing. I had a career making documentaries on sensitive issues.
I moved from documentary making to counselling and psychotherapy because I increasingly came in to contact with people who were in distressing and emotionally challenging situations including relationship issues, depression and abuse. I wanted to be able to do more to support people in these situations and ultimately help them find solutions to their problems.
Becoming a psychotherapist and counsellor has helped me to do this.
I have seven years clinical experience, and have worked with a variety of people from different communities with a wide range of difficulties and mental health problems. Issues I have worked with include:
- generalised anxiety
- relationship issues
- affairs and betrayals
- separation and divorce
- anger management
- family issues
- seasonal affective disorder
- emotional abuse
- career counselling
- sexual abuse
- low self-esteem
- suicidal thoughts
I have worked as a counsellor in the following organisations:
- NHS GP Practice in North London – providing short-term, individual counselling and psychotherapy to patients, who lived in the local area including Crouch End, Muswell Hill, Highgate, Finsbury Park, Harringay, Wood Green and many other areas
- Barnet Community Counselling – providing individual counselling and psychotherapy to those living in North London, including: Barnet, Finchley, Mill Hill, Whetstone, Totteridge, Edgware, Hampstead, Southgate and many other areas
- Metanoia Counselling and Psychotherapy Service (MCPS) – providing individual, low-cost counselling and psychotherapy in Ealing, West London
